CFP: Comprehensive Exam Reading Lists in Childhood History

Call for Comprehensive Reading Lists in the History of Childhood and Youth

The SHCY is compiling doctoral comprehensive exam or field competency exam reading lists in childhood and youth history. These bibliographies will be displayed and accessible as a resource for all on the SHCY website, www.shcy.org.

The lists must have been or will soon be used by graduate students studying for a doctorate.  There is no limitation on length, nor will there be an attempt by the Society to manage or edit which works are included in the bibliographies.

We welcome lists in all languages, and they may be constructed with an emphasis on any of the many related fields (e.g. children's literature, girlhood, education, social policy, etc) or any region of the world.  The only stipulation is that submitted bibliographies be in actual (recent or forthcoming) use by scholars and programs preparing students for research in the historical study of childhood and youth.

Submissions should include:

  • The name of the submitting faculty or student, with complete professional contact information
  • The dates of usage
  • The name of the program associated with the use of the bibliography
  • A complete bibliography

If you have any questions please tweet us, @shcyhome or e-mail us at shcyhome@gmail.com.
