The Journal of the History of Childhood and Youth invites scholars to join our distinguished Editorial Board. We seek applications from scholars passionate about advancing the field of the history of childhood and youth and are committed to enhancing the journal’s prestige and reach.
Board members will work with the journal’s editors to promote the journal, increase the academic prestige of the journal, and advise on strategic directions for the JHCY. Additionally, board members will be expected to be actively involved in the peer review process through the creation of a peer review database as well as serving peer reviewers in their fields of expertise at least once per year.
Qualifications Necessary: Board members must

Hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field to the journal (history, literary studies, childhood studies, art history, anthropology, for example).

Be a published scholar with a contribution(s) to the history of childhood and youth

Be able to serve a 3-year term
-
Be able to become a member of the Society of the History of Childhood and Youth upon assignment to the Editorial Board (if not already one)
Preferred Qualifications:

Current member of the Society of the History of Childhood and Youth

Published author in the JHCY (either article or book review)
Responsibilities:

Participate in the peer review process by making suggestions for relevant peer reviewers and building a geographic, temporal, and thematic peer reviewer database

Serve as a peer reviewer for manuscripts at least once per year

Advise and provide feedback on editorial policies and strategic direction

Promote the journal within professional networks to attract high-quality submissions and broad readership

Uphold ethical standards in publishing
