CFP: Special Forum JHCY on Double-Age

Call for Papers:
Forum on Double-Age for the Journal of the History of Childhood and Youth

Co-Edited Dr. Holly White and Dr. Crystal Webster

The JHCY seeks papers to be included in a special forum on the concept of "double age," one being based on chronological birth date and the other based on perceived development-- be it physical,  intellectual, or cultural. Papers included in the forum might highlight the tensions generated from these conflicting age assignments and are invited to explore and discuss how in turn these tensions help shape and reinforce ideas about childhood, youth, and aging  in American culture. We encourage submissions from a wide range of periodization that explores age and childhood with a particular focus on race, gender, sexuality, queerness, and/or indigenous studies.

Submission Instructions:

Applicants should submit a 250-word abstract of their proposed paper and a one-page CV via email to Dr. White, hnstevens@wm.edu, by Friday, February 26th, 2021 to apply.  If accepted, draft papers of no more than 5,000 words will be due September 1st to go out to peer-review.
